Roundtables in Spine Surgery is an innovative quarterly journal that closely examines a different aspect of spine surgery in every illustrated issue. In each installment, a guest editor or editors with special expertise on a featured topic, is assisted by a rotating lineup of panel participants. Following a series of keynote chapters, panelists engage in an energetic point-counterpoint discussion on the topic. A final section of CME assessment is included as an added benefit to our readers who can receive continuing medical education credit in a convenient and effective manner.

Prognostic Genetic Testing for Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis
Editors: Peter O. Newton, MD and Harry L. Shufflebarger, MD
This issue begins with an article on “Demystifying the Genetic Test for Scoliosis” then moves to the Roundtable Discussion which features a distinguished panel of experts who specialize in pediatric spinal deformity. The Discussion is organized around three different patient scenarios: (1) a patient with no genetic testing, (2) a patient with a high risk genetic test result, and (3) a patient with a low risk genetic test result. The panelists energetically debate recommended treatment options, benefits of the test, and how the technology will be integrated with existing practices. The goal is to provide readers with a valuable base of information to evaluate how prognostic genetic testing will benefit their practice and ultimately their patients diagnosed with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. Finally, 2 AMA PRA Category 1 credit(s) are available with this issue.
